Overview
Are you ready to play a vital role in supporting train maintenance activities? We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Stores Operative to join a team in Salisbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of a key transportation hub while working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Contract Duration: 8 weeks
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday)
Pay Rate: £21.23 per hour UMBRELLA
Location: Salisbury, SP2 7RL
Responsibilities
As a Stores Operative, you will:
- Ensure the effective supply of materials to support train maintenance activities.
- Manage and organize inventory within the depot.
- Operate a forklift to handle and transport materials safely and efficiently.
- Follow work instructions, method statements, and comply with all local depot regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate material distribution.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Essential: A valid forklift licence.
- Preferred: Previous experience in a stores or warehouse environment.
- The ability to follow detailed work instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
- A proactive and team-oriented mindset.
Day-to-Day
Your typical day as a Stores Operative will include:
- Receiving, checking, and organizing incoming materials.
- Preparing and delivering materials to support maintenance teams.
- Conducting regular inventory checks to ensure stock accuracy.
- Operating a forklift to move materials safely within the depot.
- Communicating with team members and supervisors to address material needs.
- Adhering to depot safety standards and contributing to a positive work environment.
